Ascend and Transcend

The Hand of God

Ascend is to climb stairs or rise up in a plane according to the Oxford Dictionary. According to the Bible, Jesus ascended into heaven. He transcended the earthly plane. Ascend to me, means that it relates to the physical beingness and transcend would be metaphysical or going beyond the physical as Jesus did.

Rumi is one of my favorite poets and I believe he had experiences of transcending the earthly plane in meditation. Transcend, as in moving beyond the normal range of human experience. (Paraphrasing the Oxford Dictionary.) We can transcend our current physical reality while meditating and becoming like a blank slate, emptying our mind of thoughts. The following poem is an example.

“THE ALCHEMY OF LOVE”

You come to us
from another world

From beyond the stars
and void of space.
Transcendent, Pure,
Of unimaginable beauty,
Bringing with you
the essence of love

You transform all
who are touched by you.
Mundane concerns,
troubles, and sorrows
dissolve in your presence,
Bringing joy
to ruler and ruled
To peasant and king

You bewilder us
with your grace.
All evils
transform into
goodness.

You are the master alchemist.

You light the fire of love
in earth and sky
in heart and soul
of every being.

Through your love
existence and nonexistence merge.
All opposites unite.
All that is profane
becomes sacred again.”

High Vibrations for the Universe

The angst is great

Emotions are high

All feel justified

On every side

A stinking swamp

What can one do?

Empathic hearts

Yearning to know

How to stop bullies

And egos with greed

Are they all for one?

Or one against them all

Retaliation

Never pays for

Innocent victims

What can one do?

Join together

Raise the vibration

Lift the energy

With thoughts from the heart

High vibrations of love

Positive thoughts

Seeing it rightly

Knowing the Truth

Quells the unrest

Lifts the Universe

What is Unity

Here are some notes on what Unity is all about.

Non-denominational Christian community that metaphysically interprets the Bible, discerning the meaning beyond the words.

Unity is a spirituality not a religion.

Unity utilizes a “practical application” of the teachings of Jesus.

Jesus is our brother and way shower, not a God that is worshipped.

“Not a church or sect,
   but a place
where the students of Jesus
gain a spiritual understanding
   of the words of Jesus,
   the parables of Jesus
and the rites of the church.
We baptize not with water
   but with Spirit…”

Written by Charles Fillmore, cofounder, with his wife Myrtle

We do our best to follow the 5 Unity Principles:

Mind: 1. God is absolute good, everywhere present. 2. Human beings have a spark of divinity within them, the Christ spirit within. Their very essence is of God, and therefore they are also inherently good.

Idea: 3. Human beings create their experiences by the activity of their thinking. Everything in the manifest realm has its beginning in thought. 4. Prayer is creative thinking that heightens the connection with God-Mind and therefore brings forth wisdom, healing, prosperity, and everything good.

Expression: 5. Knowing and understanding the laws of life, also called Truth, are not enough. A person must also live the truth that he or she knows.

Mind, Idea, Expression is the metaphysical Trinity of Father, Son, Holy Spirit

Most of us meditate daily in the morning or when walking or during a meditative activity. Just to listen for and connect with the ‘still small voice’ within.

Many of us follow our gut or listen to our intuition as a daily practice.

And the Birth

Christmas came and Christmas went, seemingly quicker than it took to arrive. The preparation for anything takes 95% of the time and then the rest gets completed in record time. I guess one could say that your first day of school or college is preparing for graduation. Ah, but the birth of a child is well worth the preparation.

Metaphysically, the birth of the Christ within us, is taking a deeper spiritual walk with Spirit during advent and aligning our consciousness as one with the One. Faith, peace, love, and joy are the order of Sundays in Advent. With faith, we deepen our spiritual walk with Spirit. The topic was darkness and what one’s thoughts and feelings were related to it. (See https://wordpress.com/post/revairin.wordpress.com/446) On the second Sunday the peace candle was lit, and I wrote more about darkness and highlighted hope that one has despite tough circumstances. See (https://wordpress.com/post/revairin.wordpress.com/449) On the third Sunday the candle for love was lit, and I continued Magic and Miracles II, writing about the healing that occurs in the silence. See (https://wordpress.com/post/revairin.wordpress.com/461) The fourth Sunday I lit the candle of Joy and wrote about how waiting can be difficult for someone and that it is an important part of the preparation for birth. See (https://wordpress.com/post/revairin.wordpress.com/464) Also, when appropriate, some people have chosen to use cleansing and releasing rituals along the way with their daily meditation.

A little history trivia there are two actual dates for the birth of Jesus: Professor Colin Humphreys wrote in the Royal Astronomical Journal that a comet around April of 5 BC was the star of Bethlehem giving us the birth date of Jesus at that time. In Proverbs 15, it says “Holiday of the nativity September 11, 3 BC”.  The planet Venus could have passed for the star on 9/11 in Revelations 12:5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.”Most Bible scholars agree that Jesus was not born on December 25.

From Valerie Straus, December 25,2015, Why is Christmas on December 25th?, Washington Post: “By most accounts, the birth was first thought — in around 200 A.D. — to have taken place on Jan. 6. Why? Nobody knows, but it may have been the result of “a calculation based on an assumed date of crucifixion of April 6 coupled with the ancient belief that prophets died on the same day as their conception,” according to religionfacts.com. By the mid-fourth century, the birthday celebration had been moved to Dec. 25. Who made the decision? Some accounts say it was the pope; others say it wasn’t.” There is much more to the article mentioning that in the Julienne calendar the winter solstice was considered to be the 25th of December. Look it up if you want to know more.

Either way, I like that it is December 25. Most likely because I have grown up with it being that way with the faith traditions I have been a member.

Notice these next few weeks if something new has emerged in your life that has given birth. It could be a new way of living after a loss or a change of direction or finding a new job or occupation. It could be a new or deepening of a relationship with someone or something.

Enjoy the adventure, for life is an adventure to be lived, not a problem to be solved!

Magic and Miracles I

Part I

“Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”
― Roald Dahl

Last week I wrote about darkness and that generally it is uncomfortable to some of us. What got my attention is that we begin our lives in the darkness of the womb and that the birth of all life comes out of darkness. A few who don’t believe the birth of Jesus ever happened see the story as fictional and written to give hope to those in a dark time. When I was present for my God daughter’s birth, it was a miraculous moment for me and one that I will never forget.

“I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge. That myth is more potent than history. That dreams are more powerful than facts. That hope always triumphs over experience. That laughter is the only cure for grief. And I believe that love is stronger than death.”
― Robert Fulghum, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten

The experience of the people in Ukraine could be considered a dark time. Over and over there are stories of hope and because they love their country and freedom, they seem to be resilient. One woman said,” Hope is what keeps me going.” Famous chefs have cooked over a million meals for refugees. There is heartache too, and that is what causes a dark time for them. Families that are separated, loved ones and homes destroyed.

Their beliefs are keeping them going. Thoughts comprise a belief that are made up of sentences that form it. This creates coming from a higher or lower perspective on surviving though the war.

So, what does magic, and miracles have to do with this? I’m glad you asked. Magic and miracles stem from hope. Hope brings about the possibility of miracles that can at times seem magical.

I don’t think that there is any one of us that hasn’t heard someone say, “I am hoping for a miracle.” I know that I have said it. A key concern in the hospital, in the world of evidence-based practice, is not to give false hope to a patient or family member. Instead, giving realistic hope would be something to strive for as in better health and quality of life despite the dis-ease that might alter life somewhat or could be healed with time.

There was one particular case with a woman who had Covid 19. This was in the first year of Covid. She was in the intensive care unit for over a month on a ventilator and wasn’t regaining consciousness. She had also chosen not to take vaccines. The outcome was not looking good. The medical team had a family meeting, but they said no to turning off life support. I had given her nurses 1Unity’s, Prayer for Protection. The nurses who felt comfortable, would read it to her when they came in to give her medications. I had briefly spoken with this woman when she first came in and had brought her a Bible that she requested. -To be Continued in Part II

What thoughts do you have daily? Ones that lift you up or bring you down? What kinds of dreams have you been having? Remember, our thoughts form our beliefs.

Please post your thoughts, if you are so inclined.

Quantum Physics, Vibration and Attraction

“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” Nikola Tesla

How Quantum Physics explains the movement of energy and its vibration to attract things and jobs, relationships and more into our lives.

In case you weren’t aware of this, everything is energy. People, plants, rocks, furniture, cars, etc. Water’s energy has been used to propel mill wheels for cider as far back as 1863 and driving other machines earlier than that. The energy in everything is vibrating at different rates.

People can come across as calm and peaceful, anxious and all points in between. Also, dogs can be very sensitive to a person’s energy. It can cause them to be excited, or back away and sometimes growl or bark. A cat might feel an attraction to your energy and approach you when normally they stay aloof from a new person that enters their home.

Quantum Physics studies matter and energy in their most basic forms. A quantum is super tiny. For example, a quantum of light would be a photon. A quantum of electricity would be an electron. Also, Quantum Physics “is a new form of mysticism, which suggests the interconnectedness of all things and beings and the connection of our minds with a cosmic mind.” Ponte and Schafer, Carl Gustav Jung, Quantum Physics and the Spiritual Mind: A Mystical Vision of the Twenty-First Century, National Center for Biotechnology Information

Quantum Physics focuses on Quantum Mechanics which is set of principals used to explain the behavior of the particles that make up matter and energy. For example, Einstein wrote in a paper that light didn’t travel as a wave, but more in the shape of a packet of energy, several quantum forms, known as quanta. It has been discovered that all particles can travel as a wave or simply as particles.

Why include this to explain attraction? It is physical proof that all things are interconnected and in various relationships in the universe, from what is visible to what is going on beyond the naked eye. Spiritually, many of us have experienced this without the physical proof, scientifically. Our focused thought on something causes energy to condense and become matter.

“The ability to manipulate the environment thoughtfully provides the capacity to shift our vantage point, to hover above the timeline and contemplate what was and imagine what will be.”
― Brian Greene, Until the End of Time: Mind, Matter, and Our Search for Meaning in an Evolving Universe

One last important term to know is Quantum Field. Each of us is surrounded by a quantum field that can expand according to our thoughts and emotions. “Jesus of Nazareth, among other spiritual teachers, was a creative partner with universal energies; he was a quantum field worker. He understood the principles of quantum physics and used them for the good of humankind without ever having attended a class on quantum principles.” P.84, Boehm, Toni G., The Power of be!

Remember when Jesus turned the water into wine? The molecules of water were changed to molecules of wine. The same thing happened with the loaves and fishes in the Sermon on the Mount story. Also consider the story of Lazarus being healed, brought back to life from the tomb. This is scientific proof for those who need evidence.

Consider this the cliff notes spiritual version of behind the scenes, on how things can be manifested through the Law of Attraction.

Synchronicity or Coincidence

Synchronicity or coincidence and do they both exist in a metaphysician’s world? If you consider yourself a Unity Truth student or a student of spiritual truths, then you are a metaphysician. Unity has five principles (https://unitygreaterportland.org/unitys-5-basic-principles/ ) that gives one opportunities to practice metaphysics in their daily life.

““Synchronicity” is a term coined by Carl Jung to describe a meaningful coincidence – the occurrence of two events related in some way without any demonstrable causality. It can be that one of the events is an “inner” event in the mind of an individual, such as a dream, that later is played out in the “outer,” physical world. An example might be when the object of the dream, a long-lost friend, unexpectedly comes for a visit. In another instance, the synchronistic events may be two “outer” events such as when two intellectual pioneers begin to teach the same subject at roughly the same time without knowing of the work of the other.” Russell D. Highland, Jr, 2007,“Inner Vision and Synchronicity: Dream Work as taught by Charles Fillmore and Carl Jung”, Truth Unity website

I like how Russell relates the two words. Coincidently or it happened at the same time.  Carl Jung and Charles Fillmore were both doing dreamwork at the same time and didn’t know of each other’s existence. As Russell writes in his 2007 thesis on the two of them, there were many synchronicities between them.

Before I discovered Unity at 27, I loved reading philosophy. I believed that there were coincidences. Awareness of them is a good way to start noticing and “not brush them off” as Rev Pat Bessey mentioned in her 10/23/22 Sunday lesson. There are random events, and these can get ignored, when in fact they may be specifically designed by Spirit or God or higher self (whatever your term is for higher power) to get your attention.

I had started noticing them before and after I came to Unity, a thought was proposed to me that there are no coincidences. So, I started reflecting on that from time to time. Metaphysically, always looking beyond the appearance or what is going on in each situation, more than we know is occurring. What could they really be? Synchronicities. If we apply metaphysics, looking beyond the meaning of coincidence, that is what we get.

One doesn’t have to always know or understand why synchronicities occur. It can sometimes seem like a miracle, too. In the past, Rev Pat has spoken of synchronicities being everyday miracles. Divine timing or divine order is also referenced when inconceivable alignments occur.

Your choice, what feels right for you, is it a synchronicity or a coincidence or both?

Keep a little notebook with you for when you notice a coincidence and you may find it to be deeper and qualify as a synchronicity. Using the ‘what you focus on you get more of’ idea. I think it’s fun to discover them.

Death Changes Your Form

“Our eternal spiritual self is more real than anything we perceive in this physical realm, and has a divine connection to the infinite love of the Creator.”
— Eben Alexander (Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon’s Journey into the Afterlife)

This article is inspired by the book, Go to Elf! Connecting With the Eternal Life Force, by Lauren McLaughlin and the Sunday talk that Rev Pat Bessey gave.

If Unity’s cofounder, Charles Fillmore, was here now he would be applauding Eben, the neurosurgeon in the quote above. Charles believed that humankind could grow their spiritual consciousness to the level that they will be transformed by their thoughts attaining the Christ consciousness and therefore the Christ body, transfiguring as Jesus did without dying and therefore bringing forth the perfect person. (Paraphrased from page 326, Dynamics for Living, a Topical Compilation of Essential Fillmore Teachings)

Elf explains it this way, “There is really no such thing as death; there is only transformation from one form of life to another. Eternal Life is cyclical.” Most of us are familiar with the fact that the soul never dies. When we reincarnate it is with a new body and most of us believe we are born as a baby. One can only imagine how Charles was perceived with his regeneration of the body theory in the 1920’s. He was always keeping up with scientific discoveries of the time and thinking beyond them to what he believed was possible.

According to Charles then, regarding when Jesus was in the tomb, he was in a deep sleep. During this time, he was elevating his thoughts and purifying them which in turn was purifying his body and changed it to a level in which Mary didn’t recognize him.

From the New International Version BibleGateway.com: John 20:11-16.

11 Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb 12 and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.

13 They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?”

“They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.” 14 At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.

15 He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?”

Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.”

16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.”

She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (Which means “Teacher”).

Another way of looking at this is raising your vibration level or our energy level that we are vibrating at. Tune in to how a particular thought can affect the level that you are vibrating at. Spending time in meditation can raise your vibration level. Speaking particular affirmations or the name Jesus Christ can raise your energy level. Connecting with loving thoughts after spending time doing forgiveness work which lightens and frees one up. These are some of the ways to purify yourself.

I would say I am a work in progress. Let me know what you think about this here on my blog. Have fun with it!

Dismantling Boxes in Our Lives

This week in the Sunday lesson Rev Pat asked us to look at what box we were ready to dismantle or release. I think of these as mental thought constructs. I remember once, having a whole lineup of what needed to happen in my life and in a particular order before I could allow the purchase of a particular thing. I didn’t realize it at the time until I became ‘aware’. One of the words Rev Pat said was key to dismantling our box. I did such a good job dismantling and releasing it that I can’t remember the particulars. I very much recall what I had created that was limiting my good. I do remember that a couple of the things were getting the right job and having enough money… then…could happen.

Our head or intellect is where the ego resides. Our hearts are where we tend to place the feeling nature part of us. Most males are seen as coming from the intellect and being logically oriented and females tend to naturally lead from their hearts with their feeling natures and become emotional more easily. The ideal is to have a balance between the head and the heart.

From the Revealing Word, the metaphysical meaning of mental is:” The mind assimilates what it affirms. Mental atmosphere – Surrounding or prevailing mental influence”

Metaphysically, “ego, Spiritual—The true self; an individual center in God consciousness; I AM; conscious identity.

Ego, adverse—When the ego attaches itself to sense consciousness, it builds the antichrist man, who has no basis in reality.

Fear–…a paralyzer of mental action; it weakens both mind and body”

The acronym for FEAR is False Evidence Appearing Real.

The ego likes to keep us safe and be in charge. However, when we have an awareness of what we are giving the power to in any given situation, for example, if it is fear caused from a lack of financial means. Once this is realized, we can dismantle that thought construct and affirm that “there is only one power and presence, God.” Knowing that the mind assimilates what it affirms, we can free ourselves of the thought or box that was restricting us.

Are you looking to manifest a new relationship or house or job? What might the thought constructs or boxes you have unconsciously placed that are blocking your good from you?

Remember to be gentle with yourself in your discovery like you would be with a child,

Rev Airin
