“Our eternal spiritual self is more real than anything we perceive in this physical realm, and has a divine connection to the infinite love of the Creator.”
— Eben Alexander (Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon’s Journey into the Afterlife)
This article is inspired by the book, Go to Elf! Connecting With the Eternal Life Force, by Lauren McLaughlin and the Sunday talk that Rev Pat Bessey gave.
If Unity’s cofounder, Charles Fillmore, was here now he would be applauding Eben, the neurosurgeon in the quote above. Charles believed that humankind could grow their spiritual consciousness to the level that they will be transformed by their thoughts attaining the Christ consciousness and therefore the Christ body, transfiguring as Jesus did without dying and therefore bringing forth the perfect person. (Paraphrased from page 326, Dynamics for Living, a Topical Compilation of Essential Fillmore Teachings)
Elf explains it this way, “There is really no such thing as death; there is only transformation from one form of life to another. Eternal Life is cyclical.” Most of us are familiar with the fact that the soul never dies. When we reincarnate it is with a new body and most of us believe we are born as a baby. One can only imagine how Charles was perceived with his regeneration of the body theory in the 1920’s. He was always keeping up with scientific discoveries of the time and thinking beyond them to what he believed was possible.
According to Charles then, regarding when Jesus was in the tomb, he was in a deep sleep. During this time, he was elevating his thoughts and purifying them which in turn was purifying his body and changed it to a level in which Mary didn’t recognize him.
From the New International Version BibleGateway.com: John 20:11-16.
11 Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb 12 and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.
13 They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?”
“They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.” 14 At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.
15 He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?”
Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.”
16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.”
She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (Which means “Teacher”).
Another way of looking at this is raising your vibration level or our energy level that we are vibrating at. Tune in to how a particular thought can affect the level that you are vibrating at. Spending time in meditation can raise your vibration level. Speaking particular affirmations or the name Jesus Christ can raise your energy level. Connecting with loving thoughts after spending time doing forgiveness work which lightens and frees one up. These are some of the ways to purify yourself.
I would say I am a work in progress. Let me know what you think about this here on my blog. Have fun with it!
